- SANHEDRIN REESTABLISHED: ‘the council… bound Jesus (Mark 15:1).’
July 18, 2002, the Jerusalem Post reported that ‘53% of Israelis want Third Temple.’ In 425, nasi Gamaliel VI was executed by orders of Flavius Theodosius II for building a new synagogue. Encyclopedia Britannica (Vol. 11; 1910): he was ‘the last of the patriarchs …with him expired the office, which had already been robbed of its privileges by a decree of the emperors Honorius and Theodosius II (dated 17 October 415)…’
A Historical Atlas of the Jewish People (Barnavi; 1992), states “For over 300 years, between Constantine’s occupation of the eastern provinces in 324 and the Arab conquest in 634, Palestine was ruled by Byzantium’s dual law: Roman and Christian. …The Council of Nicaea (325), for example, decided to fix a constant date for Easter, a holiday which until then had been celebrated in the Orient on the same day as the Jewish Passover. …Beginning with Constantine, several laws repeated the demand that Jews, like all other subjects of the empire, should perform municipal obligations. …A law …in 329 forbade the Jewish communities’ custom of punishing apostates to Christianity. …In the early fifth century there were prohibitions on the construction of new synagogues. …Finally, it was Church pressure which also led to the extinction of another Jewish institution – the patriarch in Tiberias. Symbol of ‘national’ unity, recognized as such both in Palestine and in the Diaspora which supported him by generous contributions, the nasi was above all a leader of the nation by virtue of being a scion (branch) of the ‘house of David.’ …Thus, by 429 the Roman law speaks of the ‘extinguished’ office of the nasi.”
And from 425, one thousand five hundred and seventy-nine (1,579) years passed with no Sanhedrin Council (Judaism’s highest legal-religious tribunal – Num. 11:16). Then, in Tishrei 5765 (October 13, 2004), the Sanhedrin was reestablished. That day Arutz Sheva (Israelnationalnews.com) reported, “Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, who heads the Temple Institute in Jerusalem… told Arutz-7 today, ‘Whether this will be that actual Sanhedrin that we await, is a question of time – just like the establishment of the State; we rejoiced in it, but we are still awaiting something much more ideal. It’s a process. Today’s ceremony is really the continuation of the renewal of the Ordination process in Israel, which we marked several months ago. Our Talmudic Sages describe the ten stages of exile of the Sanhedrin from Jerusalem to other locations, until it ended in Tiberias – and this is the place where it was foretold that it would be renewed, and from here it will be relocated to Jerusalem’.” Two months after this, following mikvaot (ritual baths) about 50 members of the 71 Sanhedrin members went to the foot of the Temple Mount, and many ascended the Mount for the first time. According to the Temple Institute (templeinstitute.org), ‘The Temple Institute is dedicated to all aspects of the Divine commandment for Israel to build a house from G-d’s presence, the Holy Temple, on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. The range of the Institute’s involvement …includes education, research, activism, and actual preparation.’ Summer 2008, Rabbi Chaim Richman, International Director of the Temple Institute, toured America giving ‘Torah presentations,’ and reminded Jews and Christians that Isaiah foretold the Third Temple must be built before the return of the Messiah. Richman said, ‘The Bible clearly indicates that all humanity will be uplifted to a new and unparalleled level of unity when the Holy Temple is rebuilt.
‘And it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the L-rd’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted about the hills, and all the nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the L-rd…’ (Isa. 2:2).’ …Urge each and every true friend of Israel to personally fulfill the verse ‘For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace, and for the sake of Jerusalem, I will not be still… (Isa. 62:1).’ Do not be silent, do not be still! Make your voices heard… Look deeply into your hearts, seek guidance from our Creator, and decide upon your course of action – a course that will allow you the merit of participating in G-d’s unfolding plan of redemption for all mankind.”
Richman also said, “…The month of Cheshvan (2nd month on Hebrew civil calendar; 8th month on the religious calendar; October-November; Solomon’s Temple was completed – Cheshvan 960 BC; Cheshvan follows the month of Tishri, which begins Rosh Hashanah and contains Kom Kippur ‘the 10th day of the 7th month’ – Lev. 23:27) …is the only month of the year …not mark by any major festival …on the Jewish calendar… but our blessed Sages teach us that …this is going to be the month of the dedication of Temple… It is a commandment to rebuild the Temple… (Exo. 25:8). Just as the Jewish people are obligated to keep the Shabbat …we have an obligation to build the Temple. …We do as much as we can …to prepare… (Additionally, concerning the priest) scientific discovery (has revealed) 2 particular chromosomes to (descendents) of Aaron… The Bible (states) ‘…between Me and Aaron is an eternal Covenant… (Lev. 24:8; Exo. 28:43; Neh. 13:29)’.” Concerning the ‘Ark of the Testimony (Exo. 25:16),’ he said, ‘…the Ark …has been hidden; King Solomon …under the Temple …built a chamber …to hide the Ark of the Covenant. …We know exactly were that chamber is…”
In 2008, Richman also told Arutz-7, Israeli National News, that the High Priest’s head-plate is ready for use in the Holy Temple. And the Temple Institute has reported that ‘archeologists have uncovered a Second Temple Period quarry whose stones were used to build the Western Wall… (5-20-08; The Jerusalem Post).’ In 2009, the Institute stated, ‘120 sets of linen garments for lay priest are underway; for the first time in 1,938 years the linen garments …are being produced in preparation for the rebuilding of the Holy Temple and the renewal of the Divine service. The last priestly garments to have been worn were those worn by the priests who were martyred by the Roman legions who brutally invaded and destroyed the Holy Temple on the ninth day of the month of Av, in the year 70 CE.’
August 2003, the Temple Mount was reopened to non-Muslims on Sundays-Thursdays, 7:30 – 10 AM and 12:30 – 1:30 PM; but not on Christian, Jewish or Muslim holidays. This order was not given and controlled by the governor of Jerusalem, the PM of Israel, nor the head of the UN; the order was given and is controlled by the Waqf; that is the Islamic Waqf, a Muslim religious organization under the control of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
In 2006, the Israeli Supreme Court reaffirmed a decision allowing Jews to pray on the Temple Mount. In 2007, Israel’s Prime Minister Olmert gave permission for Jordan to build a large minaret (Muslim prayer tower) on the Temple Mount. Arutz 7 News, April 26, 2008 reported that ‘…Olmert had agreed in principal to allow Arab or Muslim authorities to control the Temple Mount…’
In 1997, Richman’s book, The Mystery of the Red Heifer, stated, ‘As Israel moves closer towards the building of the Third Temple, only one thing is missing… the ashes of the Red Heifer, required by the Bible for purification (Num. 19).’ The Institute says ‘the tenth red heifer is associated with the Messianic era.’ July 2014, the Rabbinical Council of America submitted a Resolution imploring Israel ‘to accommodate Jews who wish to pray on the Temple Mount (Har Habayit).’ The Temple will be built, the money and materials are available; we wait only God’s timing.
April 2002, a red heifer was born in Israel, which Rabbi Menachem Makover and Rabbi Chaim Richman viewed. The Institute was at first ‘satisfied that this heifer could indeed be a candidate to be used in the purification process.’ Yet, that November the calf ‘became disqualified.’ The fact is red heifers are now being born and breed in Israel, and before the Temple is completed, ‘God will provide (Gen. 22:8)’ what is needed to fulfill the ‘daily sacrifices’ spoken of by Daniel (Dan. 8:11; 11:31; 12:11).

On the eighth day of (Hanukkah Dec. 13, 2015) Chanukah, 5775, the Temple Institute conducted a public Temple Service Practice Drill in which kohanim performed the hatavah (Menorah lamp preparation) and kindling of the golden Menorah as it is to be performed in the Holy Temple. The ceremony concluded with kohanim blowing on silver trumpets, followed by their recitation of Birkat Kohanim (the Priestly Blessing).
After millennia of yearning, only one organization is paving the way for the rebuilding of the Temple: the internationally-acclaimed Temple Institute, a research organization founded nearly thirty years ago and located in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Temple Institute is dedicated to every aspect of preparing for the renewal and ultimate construction of the Third Temple, and has succeeded in bringing about a spiritual awakening – bringing the concept of the Holy Temple back to forefront of our consciousness. The Institute has created nearly all of the sacred vessels needed to resume the Divine service in the Holy Temple, including the High Priest’s breastplate featuring the twelve precious stones of the tribes of Israel, the half-ton golden menorah, and the musical instruments of the Levitical choir. It has also made huge advances in preparing the architectural plans for the building of the Temple, and many other areas of research.
But who will serve in the rebuilt Holy Temple? The Temple Institute has established the world’s first school for the training and preparation of Kohanim – the Levitical Priests: Nezer Hakodesh, Hebrew for ‘Crown of Holiness,’ the Institute for Kohanic Studies. The Kohanim (plural for Kohen, the Temple priests) are the representatives of both the Creator and all of Israel, as well as all of humanity. The Institute’s goal is to prepare these men to assume their duties and responsibilities in the Holy Temple.
