No One Like Jesus

“There are three that testify in Heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Ghost: and these three are in agreement (1 John 5:7-8).”

There are several verses that say, ‘there is no one like the Lord our God;’ or ‘none like You, O LORD (Psa. 86:8; 1 Sam. 2:2; Jer. 10:6; 1 Chron. 17:20; 1 Kings 8:23).’ Not only is ‘there none like our God among the living on Earth (Exo. 9:14);’ ‘there is no god besides’ our God (2 Sam. 7:22) in all the Universe and creation; ‘nor are there any works like Yours’ God (Psa. 86:8).’

Proper Perspective

The LORD GOD Almighty/Omnipotent (Rev. 19:6): In Revelation chapter 4, both the 24 elders at the minor thrones and the majestic living creatures, as well as the angels, ‘worship Him who sits on the throne – who lives forever (Rev. 4:9); even saying ‘Holy, holy, holy… is the Lord God Almighty.’

The Holy Spirit: And before the Throne are seven lamps representing the ‘seven spirits of God (Rev. 4:5) – as in Isaiah 11:2… from the Spirit of the Lord God – the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Understanding, the Spirit of Might… Counsel, Fear of the Lord… and the seven represents complete for the attributes of God and the Holy Spirit which proceeds from the Father (John 14:26; cannot be numbered; likewise, are the seven eyes in the Lamb (Rev. 5:6 – spirits).  The Spirit of God fills the Temple and is present throughout the Universe – seeing all things (Isaiah 6:1; Rev. 15:8; Psalm 139:8).

The LORD Jesus Christ – the Lamb and the Word: In Revelation chapter 5, Jesus is at the Right Hand of Him who sits on the throne (they are not the SAME personality or God). There is one God – Father of all and one LORD – the Son of God/Son of Man – begotten but not created; with the Creator from the beginning ‘the Word was with God and was God’ – in the same Spirit – part of Elohim – same Essence and Spirit, but separate; God in that He is Son of God – but servant and Son of the Only God.   Nevertheless, Christ is also in Heaven, is worshipped with God the Father, “Worthy is the Lamb…’ in chapter 5.

But more so see: worship goes – not to the eyes of God or even the Spirit of God, and certainly not to any other gods; but to ONLY TWO WORTHY OF WORSHIP – “To HIM who sits on the Throne AND to the LAMB be praise and honor and glory and power, forever (Rev. 5:13).” That is to God the Father and to the Son of God – Jesus Christ.

Understanding Elohim and our Rock

In the Old Testament Shema (Jewish Torah and part of their daily pray) – ‘Shema Yisrael’ (‘Hear, O Israel), the verse states ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one (Deut. 6:4).’  Sh’ma Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Ecḥad

Sometimes the verse is translated, ‘the Lord is our God; the Lord is one.’ Nevertheless, Adonai is often translated for the YHVH or Lord/LORD; and Eloheinu for ‘our God.’ Eloheinu is the plural first person possessive of Elohim.   One of the mysteries of Elohim is that it means gods; but how is this so for God?

Genesis 1:26: “And God said, Let us make man…” How does our ‘one God’ say us; and how is this term used so often in the Bible? Depending on the singular or plural verb used – Elohim can be singular or plural – referring to one God or many (like in false gods). But in this Genesis verse it is plural. Paul the apostle answers this, “…there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through who all things came and exist (1 Cor. 8:6).” “The is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope… one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all… (Eph. 4:4-6).”

Both Moses and Samuel spoke of our ‘Rock,’ through they did not see Him clearly. Samuel said ‘there is no one besides You, nor is there any rock like our God (1 Sam. 2:2).’ And Moses said of the pagan tribes around the Jews, ‘indeed their rock is not like our Rock (Deut. 32:31).’

But who is this Rock? Most of the Jews did not understand when “Jesus said to them, ‘Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The Stone which the builders rejected, this became the Chief Corner Stone (Matt. 21:42; Mark 12:10; Luke 20:17)’.”   Here, Jesus – as witnessed by three Gospel writers referred to the Psalm (118:22), “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, His love endures forever… the LORD is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation… The Lord’s right hand is lifted high… The Stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone… Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD… (Psalms 118).”

The prophet Isaiah also speaks of Him, “thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion, a Stone, a tried/tested Stone, a precious Cornerstone for a sure foundation. Whoever believes in/on it (in Him) will not be shaken/moved/disturbed or stricken with panic (Isaiah 28:16)’.”

This is the Cornerstone the apostles wrote and preached of (Acts 4:11) – the ‘Rock of Offense, and whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed (Rom. 9:33).’ But they who ‘are disobedient to His word – stumble and are appointed to doom (1 Peter 2:8);’ for He is the ‘living Stone which has been rejected (I Peter 2:4)‘ by them and many. Many shall go the way to destruction; but few find and travel through the narrow and straight way (Matt. 7:14).’ They do not understand that this ‘Spiritual Rock …is Christ (1 Cor. 10:4).’

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:1-4: “All our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”

A Few Songs express that there is No One like Jesus

As David Crowder writes in his new song ‘No Rival’ (I Know a Ghost; Nov. 2018), “…He is justice; He is mercy. He is spotless, yet carried me dirty. He is jealous and gracious, pursuant and patient; always been brutally kind. He is gentle; but you can’t tame Him. There is no one – no one; no one like Jesus. He has – He has – No rival. No one, No one, No one like Jesus; He has – He had no equal. He’s a King; He’s a servant. Voice of thunder; I hear Him whisper. He gives beauty for ashes. Gave His life in compassion; always we’ve been on His mind. He was buried; but Hell couldn’t hold Him. There is no one – No one… No one like Jesus… He has no equal.”

Jesus declared before His followers and a crowd that He is ‘the bread of life,’ ‘…the Son of Man’ from ‘God the Father’ – thus, Salvation and the Son of God (John 6:26, 32-35; Dan. 7:13-14) When many of those that fellow Jesus on Earth were confronted about who He truly was, ‘many of His disciples turned back and no longer followed Him (John 6:66).’ But, ‘when Jesus asked the Twelve (John 6:67).’ “Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God (John 6:68).”

Brian and Jenn Johnson (Bethel Music) with Kari Jobe wrote in their song ‘Forever’ that “He Savior of the World… His body on the Cross; His blood poured out for us. The weight of ever curse upon Him; one final breath He gave; as Heaven looked away. The Son of God was laid in Darkness. A battle in the Grave; a war on death was waged. The Power of Hell Forever broken! The ground began to shake! The stone was rolled away. His perfect love could not be overcome. Now Death where’s your Sting? Our Resurrected King has rendered you defeated. Forever He is glorified; forever He is lifted high. Forever He is risen; He is alive… There’s No One like you Jesus… We are in love with You… We sing Hallelujah… the Lamb has overcome.”

You were the Word at the beginning; One with God the Lord Most High. Your hidden glory in creation; now revealed in You our Christ – what a beautiful Name it is… the Name of Jesus Christ my King… Nothing compares to this… the Name of Jesus…

“Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time and forever… (Psa. 113:2).”

Likewise, Reuben Morgan wrote Emmanuel for Hillsong Worship which was sung by Darlene Zschech: “Holy holy, I will bow before My Lord and King… You have come to us; You make all things new. Emmanuel, Jesus Christ, You’ll never let me go… My Sheppard King, You’re watching over me… Emmanuel… Holy, holy, God Almighty – there is none like You…”

The Prophets and Apostles testify of Christ

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).”

“The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35).”

“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son (Hosea 11:1).”

“So he (Joseph) got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘Out of Egypt I called my son’ (Matthew 2:14–15).”

“The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats (Exodus 12:5).”

“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God (Hebrews 9:14).”

“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed (Daniel 7:13–14).”

“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end (Luke 1:31–33).”

“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey; on a colt, the foal of a donkey (Zechariah 9:9).”

“A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’

‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’ “When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, ‘Who is this?’ (Matthew 21:8–10)”

“It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones (Exodus 12:46).”

“Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: ‘Not one of his bones will be broken’ (John 19:31–36).”

“For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life (Leviticus 17:11).”

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:28).”

“Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet (Psalm 22:16).”

“These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: ‘Not one of his bones will be broken,’ and, as another scripture says, ‘They will look on the one they have pierced (John 19:36–37).”

The Apostles Creed in part

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead…”

The Church says Maranatha (‘our Lord comes’) and “Come Lord (Rev. 22:20)”

As Crowder sang, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and ransom captive Israel; that mourns… until the Son of God appears. Rejoice, rejoice; Emmanuel shall come to thee Israel… our King of Peace… Rejoice, rejoice; Emmanuel has come… He has come…”

First Century Jewish Historian Josephus

“Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man.  For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had  first come to love him did not cease.  He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him.  And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.”
