How Homosexuality and Same-Sex Marriage became accepted in ‘Christian’ Societies

Upon researching the acceptance and legal rights of homosexuals in societies, it is quickly discovered the vast differences in Muslim and ‘Christian’ nations; as well as in Communist versus Capitalist countries. Additionally, the history of how ‘Christian’ states and countries changed their beliefs, practices and laws is well noticed after a little research. The force of the United Nations, Medical and Corporate Associations, and the rise of the post-World War II non-religious are significant factors in those changes; as well as the acceptance of erroneous biblical and scientific facts. This article will briefly: (1) offer definitions; (2) examine the 2018 status of laws relating to same-sex marriage; (3) explore related events and psychology in a timeline format; (4) look at certain reasons societies differ; (5) inspect American college textbooks; (6) the 1971-1973 APA conferences and DSM change; (7) learn what the Scriptures say.

(1) Definitions: by Merriam-Webster (M-W) and by GLAAD 
(G; pro-LGBTQ Assoc.)

Bisexual: G: A person who has the capacity to form enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attractions to those of the same gender or to those of another gender. People may experience this attraction in differing ways and degrees over their lifetime. Bisexual people need not have …had any sexual experience at all to identify as bisexual.

Gay: W 1828: Merry; airy; jovial; sportive… it denotes more life and animation than cheerful; inflamed or merry with liquor; intoxicated; a vulgar use of the word in America.

Gay: M-W: Happily excited; Merry… keenly alive and exuberant… given to social pleasures; Licentious; Homosexual – relating to or used by homosexuals; the gay rights movement…

Gay: G: The adjective used to describe people whose enduring physical, romantic, and/ or emotional attractions are to people of the same sex (e.g., gay man, gay people). Sometimes lesbian (n. or adj.) is the preferred term for women. Avoid identifying gay people as “homosexuals” an outdated term considered derogatory and offensive to many lesbian and gay people.

Homosexual: M-W: (Not in Webster’s 1828 dictionary); relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex… involving sexual activity between persons of the same sex.

Heterosexual: G: An adjective used to describe people whose enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction is to people of the opposite sex. Also straight.

Homosexual: G: (Offensive Terms to Avoid) Outdated clinical term considered derogatory and offensive. The Associated Press, New York Times and Washington Post restrict usage of the term.

Lesbian: A woman whose enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction is to other women. Some lesbians may prefer to identify as gay (adj.) or as gay women. Avoid identifying lesbians as “homosexuals,” a derogatory term (see Offensive Terms to Avoid).

LGBTQ: G: Acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. Sometimes, when the Q is seen at the end of LGBT, it can also mean questioning. LGBT and/or GLBT are also often used. The term “gay community” should be avoided, as it does not accurately reflect the diversity of the community. Rather, LGBTQ community is preferred.

Queer: G: An adjective used by some people, particularly younger people, whose sexual orientation is not exclusively heterosexual… Typically, for those who identify as queer, the terms lesbian, gay, and bisexual are perceived to be too limiting and/or fraught with cultural connotations they feel don’t apply to them. Some people may use queer, or more commonly genderqueer, to describe their gender identity and/or gender expression (see non-binary and/or genderqueer below). Once considered a pejorative term, queer has been reclaimed by some LGBT people to describe themselves; however, it is not a universally accepted term even within the LGBT community. When Q is seen at the end of LGBT, it typically means queer and, less often, questioning.

Sodomy: W 1828: a crime against nature.

California Penal Code Section 286(a), “act of sodomy… consisting of contact between the penis of one person and the anus of another person… intercourse was not consensual… or one person is more than 21… and the second less than 16…”

Note: GLAAD does not say ‘heterosexual’ or ‘straight’ is offensive; although homo-sexual is also simply an adjective; ‘gay’ was formally related to ‘joy,’ or ‘a vulgar’ term relating to ‘intoxication;’ and ‘straight’ is offense to many who prefer the terms ‘righteous’ or ‘holy’ relationships. An additional problem with terms is when the group being examined whether homosexuals, Christians or criminals are allowed to change (or discontinue) their usage and meanings.

(2) Same-Sex Marriage in Various Nations (2018)

According to the Witherspoon Institute (January 2016), ‘The UN’s Push for ‘Same-Sex Marriage,’ “The United Nations has begun openly advocating a controversial position on one of the most divisive issues facing its Member States. Even worse, the UN position does not enjoy support in international law. Over the past few years, many UN bureaucrats have decided to ignore the consensus-led processes laid out in the UN Charter in order to advance the idea that individuals possess a right to same-sex marriage. The Secretary General, along with many bureaucrats… in UN agencies or UN treaty-monitoring bodies… publicly champion same-sex marriage, even though… the vast majority of Member States strongly oppose it. The major push at the UN… can be traced back to July 2013, when the UN launched ‘Free & Equal,’ a massive campaign designed specifically to advocate same-sex marriage and other LGBT concerns at the UN and around the world… Currently (2016) only 23 countries allow same-sex marriage. Therefore, of the 193 Member States… almost 90 percent have refused to redefine marriage.”

As of January 2018, after Australia’s legalization, same-sex marriage is legal in 26 countries; although Austria will formally or legally permit same-sex marriages beginning 2019 and Bermuda has repeal its legalization. According to the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the current 26 nations are: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Uruguay, and the United States; and “it is also set to become legal in Austria and Taiwan… In some of these countries, such as Mexico and Britain, marriage is only open to same-sex couples in some regions. Northern Ireland is the only part of the United Kingdom where same-sex marriage is not allowed.”

March 2018: Taiwan has not formally approved the proposal. In 2015, Public Policy Network Participation Platform, submitted that up to 71% supported a same-sex marriage act. Yet, in 2016, Taiwanese Public Opinion Foundation conducted a similar poll showing that 46.3% of the respondents supported the legalization of same-sex marriage, while 45.4% were opposed to it.  2018 List of nations at Pew Forum link:

(3) Timeline of Events & changes in Psychology relating to Homosexuality

c. 1,300 BC: Moses – “…If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination (done what is detestable). They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads (Leviticus 20:13).”

c. 400 BC: Hippocrates cites that the brain is the source of mental disorders.

c. 360 BC: Plato in his Republic (chapter 9) says, “Of our unnecessary pleasures and appetites there are some lawless ones, I think, which probably are to be found in us all, but which, when controlled by the laws and the better desires in alliance with reason, can in some men be altogether got rid of, or so nearly so that only a few weak ones remain…”
c. 387 BC: Plato suggested that the brain is the mechanism of our mental processes.

c. 335 BC: Aristotle suggested that the heart was the mechanism of our mental processes.

c. 50 AD: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionist will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor. 6:9-11).”

c. 500: Many societies follow certain religious teachings which say that demons cause mental disorders.

c. 700: Qur’an (Koran) on homosexuality: “You practice your lusts on men rather than to women; you are transgressing (sinning) beyond bounds… And we rained down on them stones (of brimstone)… Will you commit abomination such as no creature did before you (Q 7:80-)?” “Will you approach males, and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives (Q 26:165-)?” “If two men among you are guilty of sexual lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, leave them alone… (Q 4:16).” “If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death (Abu Dawud 4448).” “The Prophet (Muhammad) cursed effeminate men and those women who assume the manners of men (Sahih Bukhari 72:774).” Muhammad “said, whoever is found conducting himself in the manner of the people of Lot, kill the doer and the receiver… (al-Tirmidhi, Sunan 1:152).”

c. 1250: Spain, France and Italy had penalties of torture and castration against those who committed sodomy.

1307: King Philip IV brought accusations of sodomy against certain Knights Templars to avoid paying his debts to the Order.

1533: King Henry VIII of England supported Parliament’s Buggery Act that made sodomy a criminal act stating that ‘offenders being convicted… shall suffer such pains of death and losses and penalties of their good chattels debts land tenements… And that no person offending in any such offence shall be admitted to his Clergy.”

1683: American Colonies: Pennsylvania, sodomy was called an ‘unnatural sin;’ New Jersey, it was an ‘offense against God,’ and immoral crime.

c. 1730s: The Dutch imposed harsh penalties against homosexuals.

1786: American Philosophical Society published Medical Inquiries and Observations.

1791: When the Bill of Rights was ratified in America, all 13 states had criminal laws against sodomy, though they rarely were used.

1812: Benjamin Rush writes first American systematic textbook on Psychiatry entitled Medical Inquiries and Observations upon Diseases of the Mind. In his chapter X, On Derangement in the Will he says that ‘two opinions have divided philosophers and divines (doctors), upon the subject of the operations of the will. It has been supposed, by one sect of each of them, to act freely; and by the others to act from necessity, and only in consequence of the stimulus of motives upon it. Both these opinions are supported by an equal weight of arguments… The will is affected by disease …when it acts without a motive, by a kind of involuntary power… I have called it MORAL DERANGEMENT…” In the next chapter Rush speaks about Christian faith, and says, ‘sometimes a strong passion, or emotion, but pre-occupying the mind prevents the exercise of belief… In chapter XVIII, Of the Morbid state of the Sexual Appetite, Rush writes, “This appetite, which was implanted in our natures for the purpose of propagating our species, when excessive, becomes a disease both of the body and mind…” Rush concluded quoting John Bunyan, “an idle man’s brain is the devil’s work shop;’ and speaking of the humanity of the Philadelphia criminal justice system; saying “may this Christian system of criminal jurisprudence spread, without any of its imperfections, throughout the world.”

1869: Karl Maria Kertbeny of Prussia coined the words heterosexual and homosexual; and assumed and proposed they were assigned at birth.

1872: California Penal Code, Title 9; amended 1982… Chapter 5… Crime Against Nature; 286 (a) Sodomy is sexual conduct consisting of contact between the penis of one person and the anus of another person…”

1892: American Psychological Association was founded with 42 members.

1893: Emil Kraepelin offered a Classification of Disorders.

1901: The British Psychological Society was founded.

1906: The Journal of Abnormal Psychology was founded.

c. 1910: Sigmund Freud said many controversial things. He said, homosexuality was a ‘variation of the sexual function’ caused by ‘an arrest in sexual development.’ In his early days Freud said homosexuality was a ‘perversion’ which was a deviation from ‘the normal sexual aim… in the known of copulation.’ According to Katz’s Gay American History, Freud said, ‘to undertake to convert a fully developed homosexual into a heterosexual is not much more promising than to do the reverse…’ According to a ‘Letter to an American Mother’ whose son was homosexual, Freud replied, “Homosexuality is assuredly no advantage, but it is nothing to be ashamed of, no vice, no degradation, it cannot be classified as an illness: we consider it to be a variation of the sexual function produced by a certain arrest of sexual development.’ The ‘we’ Freud was referring to was agonist or non-Christian, non-God-fearing self-acclaimed colleagues.

1913 Carl G. Jung departed from Freudian views and developed his own theories citing Freud’s inability to acknowledge religion and spirituality. His new school of thought became known as Analytical Psychology.

1917: American Medico–Psychological Association joined with the National Commission on Mental Hygiene for the Bureau of the Census to gather uniform health statistics from mental hospitals.

1930s: Wilhelm Stekel, a disciple or student of Freud, likewise taught that bisexual behavior was natural or innate and that people could be conditioned depending on psychological experiences.

1935: The first use of lobotomy for mental disorders was performed.

1948: U.S. Supreme Court put up ‘the impenetrable wall between church and state’ in their decision of McCollum v. Board of Education.

1948: Alfred Kinsey of Britain produced his sexual behavior of men. His Sexual Behavior in the Human Male quickly became a best-seller. Kinsey was an atheist and bisexual. In 1953, Kinsey released Sexual Behavior in the Human Female.

1952: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) was published. Homosexuality was listed in Appendix C.

1954: E. Bergler and W. Kroger announced that Kinsey’s research was biased – that it included a known and higher than normal percentage of convicts (which were in an abnormal setting), know homosexuals and mental patients.

1955: the American Law Institute published a New Edition of their Model Penal Code which cited Kinsey’s research and moved for states to repeal sodomy laws and ‘criminal penalties for consensual sexual relations conducted in private.’ At that time homosexual conduct was a felony in all 50 states of America.

1957: the ACLU took up the homosexual rights cause; the same year Eisenhower signed the Civil Rights Act.

1961: Illinois adopted the Model Penal Code and other states followed.

1962: U.S. Supreme Court in Engel v. Vitale ruled against public school sponsor prayer to ‘Almighty God…

1960s-1970s: America TV shows began introducing ‘gay’ or homosexual characters; such as Billy Crystal in SOAP (1977).

1968: The DSM-II APA Manual listed homosexuality as a disorder under ‘sexual deviation and specific disorders;’ and transvestism was included. DSM; Section 302: Sexual Deviations: “…individuals whose sexual interests are directed primarily toward objects other than people of the opposite sex, toward sexual acts not usually associated with coitus, or toward …sexual fetishism… Even though many find their practices distasteful, they remain unable to substitute normal sexual behavior for them…” This same year the first Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree program in Clinical Psychology was established at the University of Illinois.
1968: Civil Rights dealt with ‘race, color, religion or national origin;’ as well as rights of females; not the freedom of choice to privately commit sodomy or abort six month old fetuses.

1969: Police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club in New York City, and it resulted in riots. Gays threw bottles at the police and the protest was taken to the streets, where days of demonstrations followed; and from which the Gay Liberation Front was began.

1970: Masters and Johnson publish Human Sexual Inadequacy and launch their methods of sex therapy.

1971-3: Gay activists targets the APA until they received their victory (see section 6).

1973: The American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed HOMOSEXUALITY as a Mental Disorder from the APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-II).

1977: The World Health Organization (WHO) under the United Nations listed Homosexuality as a mental illness. That year, Jesuit Priest, John McNeill, came out and said, ‘there is no clear condemnation of homosexual activity to be found anywhere in the Bible.’ (i guess one could say that Satan is not called the Devil, old Serpent and a dragon as well – but they would be just as wrong). SOAP TV series began and featured Billy Crystal as gay (ran on ABC until 1981).

1978: Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Caucus of the APA founded (now AGLP).

1980: DSM III listed “Ego-dystonic Homosexuality’ under ‘Other Psychosexual Disorders.’

1985: GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) was founded and protested against the New York Post’s coverage of AIDS.

1986: In Bowers v. Hardwick, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Georgia’s sodomy law.

1987: GLAAD persuaded the New York Times to change its policy and substitute the word ‘gay’ for ‘homosexual.’

1988: American Psychological Society was founded. GLAAD opened chapters in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

1990: GLAAD began Project 21, teaching their version of sexual orientation. But the end of this year they had 11 national chapters including Atlanta, Chicago and Boston. The World Health Organization (WHO) removed Homosexuality from their list of mental illnesses.

1991: GLAAD moves Hallmark Cards to lift its ban on the work ‘lesbian.’

1993: The Presbyterian Church (USA) reversed its 1861 position on gay ministers.

1994: TV show Roseanne, airs lesbian kiss.

1996: US Congress passed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA, signed by Clinton)

1998: Viagra goes on sale in the United States.

2000: DSM-IV-TR is published and changes criteria pedophilia, exhibitionism, voyeurism, frotteurism, and sexual sadism.

2000: US Census counted over 601,000 same-sex unmarried partner households; up from 145,000 in 1990.

2002: New Mexico was the first state to allow psychologists to prescribe medicine.

2004: Massachusetts (with Mitt Romney as Governor) Legalized Same-Sex Marriage through Judicial action. That year England’s Parliament passed the Civil Partnerships Act.

2007: GLAAD convince Univision and Entravision to remove offensive anti-LGBT content.

The American Counseling Association …adopted a position opposing the promotion of ‘reparative therapy’ as a ‘cure’ for individuals who are homosexual. The American Psychiatric Association… 1997 Resolution, which is endorsed by the National Association of School Psychologists, states: ‘That the APA opposes portrayals of lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth and adults as mentally ill due to their sexual orientation and supports the dissemination of accurate information about sexual orientation.’ The American School Counselor Association, in its position …states: ‘Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning (LGBTQ) youth often begin to experience self-identification during their pre-adolescent or adolescent years, as do heterosexual youth. These developmental processes are essential cognitive, emotional and social activities… they are not signs of illness, mental disorder or emotional problems… It is not the role of the professional school counselor to attempt to change a student’s sexual orientation/gender identity but instead to provide support to LGBTQ students to promote student achievement and personal well-being…”

The National Association of Social Workers, in its policy …states: ‘…it endorses policies in both the public and private sectors that ensure non-discrimination; that are sensitive to the health and mental health needs of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people; and that promote an understanding of lesbian, gay and bisexual cultures… Sexual orientation conversion therapies assume that homosexual orientation is both pathological and freely chosen. No data demonstrate that reparative or conversion therapies are effective, and in fact they may be harmful. NASW believes social workers have the responsibility to clients to explain the prevailing knowledge concerning sexual orientation… NASW reaffirms its stance against reparative therapies and treatments designed to change sexual orientation…’ In 2003, a California school district paid $ 1.1 million to six students who alleged their classmates repeatedly harassed them because of their sexual orientation and the school administration did not adequately address the harassment… Lesbian, gay, and bisexual students, like all other students, are protected by the Fourteenth Amendment and statutory requirements of equal treatment under the law…”

2009: US President Obama signed the Hate Crimes Prevention Act increasing penalties for hate crimes including crimes based on ‘gender identity.’

2010: Britain’s Parliament passed the Equality Act ‘rights of individuals… protection in private clubs to sex, religion… and gender reassignment…’ By 2010, 21 of the 51 countries in Europe recognized same-sex unions.

2012: President Obama and the NAACP came out in support of same-sex marriages.

2013: Under the direction of certain principalities, groups such as Baptist Peace Fellowship, GLADD, GLSEN, HRC, PFLAG, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force pressured and moved denominations and nations to adopt their goals of total ‘equal rights’ in both the civil and ecclesiastical realms. Giant corporations such as AARP, Aetna, Alcoa, Allstate, American Airlines, American Express, Anheuser-Busch, Apple, AT&T, Bank of America, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Borders, BP, Capital One, Cardinal Health, Chase, Chevron, Chrysler, Citigroup, Coca-Cola, Dell, Delta, Disney, Ford, Gap, General Mills, General Motors, Google, Home Depot, IBM, ING, Johnson & Johnson, Macy, Mass. Mutual, McDonalds, Microsoft, Nationwide, New York Life, New York Times, Nike, Olay, Pepsi, Progressive, Sears, Shell, Starbucks, Target, and Visa, recognized ‘equal rights for all,’ and ‘gay and lesbian’ civil union partners with no opposition.

2013: After pressure from groups such as GLAAD, the Boy Scouts of America ends its ban on homosexuals and soon after on homosexual troop leaders (2015). That same year the floodgate opened on American states and certain nations, such as New Zealand, legalizing same-sex marriage. Also, the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Moreover, in a moment of forgetfulness, Pope Francis said, ‘If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?’ Certain Cardinals quickly reminded the ‘vicar’ and ‘bishop of Rome’ of the Scriptures.

2014: U.S. District judge in Texas ruled their state ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. UN Secretariat recognized the sex marriages of its employees. The head of the Secretariat, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, implemented this ‘policy change’ without the Member States.

2015: The most popular TV shows, such as Walking Dead, had gay and or lesbian characters. The same year Bruce ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner is featured on Vanity Fair magazine.

June 26, 2015: U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that every American has the constitutional right to marry any person. Thus, legalizing Same-Sex Marriage in the United States.

(4) Why do Acceptance and Laws Differ by Religions and Political Structures

As early as 705 AD/CE the Muslims, led by al Razi, had established a mental health or psychiatric ward in Baghdad, Iraq. Additionally, Ibn Sina or Avicenna (c.1000), an Islamic founder of Modern Medicine, rejected mental illnesses due to demons, and concluded they were physiologically based. Nevertheless, as a whole, the Muslims place their beliefs, Imams (religious leaders), and practices, such as during Ramadan, above secular teachings. There Universities and Medical Facilities must not do against the teachings of their founder and ‘prophet’ Muhammad; nor thus against their Quran.

On the other hand, in current and former ‘Christian’ nations, laws and practices directly follow their changes in culture, which are directly affected by the teachings in their schools and medical associations beyond their religious beliefs and traditions. In the past, the Constitutions of Christian Nations and Colonies placed great importance in the ‘Church,’ and even required their representatives to be ‘Christians’ – believe in Jesus Christ; but since World War II nations have supported an agenda where ‘freedom of religion,’ means expelling the Christian religion from their public institutions and placing them in the hands of secular ‘professionals.’

Where in Islamic nations, even their constitutions insure that Islam and Muslim traditions are not compromised. Saudi Arabia’s current Constitution of 1992 states, “Article 1: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a sovereign Arab Islamic State; Religion is Islam and Constitution (subject to) the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah (Traditions)… Article 7: The regime derives its power from the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah which rule over this and all other State Laws… Article 8: The System of government… is established …in compliance with the Islamic Shari’ah (law of Islam)… Article 10: The State shall take great pains to strengthen the bonds which hold the family together and to preserve it Arab and Islamic values… Article 24: the State shall maintain and serve the Two Holy Mosques… Article 34: Defending the Islamic faith, the society and the homeland shall be the duty of each and every citizen…”

In Saudi Arabia and every (all) Muslim Nations which are primarily in MENA – the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Southeast Asia – Homosexuality is illegal (under Shariah or Sharia laws and their scriptures; and thus their state laws) and discovered offenders are subject to harsh fines, imprisonment, floggings (even 450 lashes for ‘promoting the vice and practice of homosexuality’), chemical castration and execution. Homosexuality is as ‘forbidden’ as theft or murder, all of which are abominations to God in their Scriptures. They even have a religious police force and Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. Of course, there are homosexuals, private parties and hidden relationships; but as a whole their society does not allow the ‘abnormal’ and immoral behavior a ‘legal’ and ‘acceptable’ place.

In Communist countries, where religion and laws are subject to the rulers and State, their position against homosexuality is such as under the teachings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels – where Marx refused to address homosexual rights (though he corresponded with Engels on the subject and about Ulrich’s requests) and Engels was hostile to individuals that sought such rights. And though the followers of these late 19th century German philosophers have significantly died out after World War II, the structure of Communism has remained in nations such as Russia and China.

It is said that homosexuality was criminalized by Stalin in 1933 and laws changed at that time. But under Lenin, homosexuality was treated as a disease and many accused were forcibly placed into psychiatric hospitals rather than prisons. In ancient China, as in most of the non-Christian and pre-Islamic world, such as Rome or Greece, homosexual relations, prostitution and orgies were accepted. But as communism entered China, Chairman Mao came against such ‘western vices’ and the activity became ‘hidden.’ Moreover, offenders were subject to harassment and even prison. In Cuba, which was directly supported and ties to the Soviet Union; in the 1960s and 1970s had ‘rehabilitation’ labor camps, in which homosexual offenders could be subjected. Homosexuality has become more accepted in these countries; yet, laws in certain states still forbid homosexual in state politics or jobs.

In 2015, a university student (pseudonym – Qiu Bai) in Guangdong Province sued the Ministry of Education because their textbook, Abnormal Psychology and Mental Health Education, classified homosexuality as a psychiatric disease and mental illness, after the government allowed the Chinese Psychiatric Association to remove it as being a ‘disease’ in 2001. In 2016, the First Intermediate People’s Court of Beijing accepted the lawsuit after the university failed to response. In March 2017, Qiu lost her appeal against the Ministry of Education; nevertheless, China Renmin University Press agreed to revise its university psychology textbook. They were 1 of 10 publishers Qiu had petitioned.

It should be noted that China’s former ‘one-child’ policy increased abortions of female fetuses and increased homosexuality among the population – simply due to the lack of females. Some studies and census show that in 2010 there were about 120 boys for every 100 girls; and that by 2030 approximately 25% (1 in 4) Chinese men in their late 30s will never have married.

While arguments of the relationship of genetics and social factors continue; it is clear that in nations where their religious Scriptures are respected and sincerely followed, their laws are also more strictly enforced. Thus, there is a more direct correlation between the Islamic religion and laws against homosexuality; that in the ‘Christian’ nations or even ‘Communist’ nations. Additionally, it such be noted that economics or money also plays a part and the acceptance and laws, for the United Nations threaten withholding IMF and World Bank loans to anti-homosexual countries and multinational corporations and large for-profits companies in capitalist, democratic and social nations support homosexual relations, marriage and adoption of children by homosexuals – regardless of their behaviors – simply because there are driven by culture and profits, over a fear of God.

An example, is Coca-Cola, MGM, Chase Bank, Dow Chemical, Alcoa, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and IBM were still serving Germans and the Nazi government in Germany for profits during World War II, regardless of the governments treatment of Christian ministers (such as Bonhoeffer), many homosexuals, thousands of Russia slaves (most Jewish; many who were forced to work for some of these corporations; but more so BASF, Bayer, Bosch, IG Farben, Mercedes, VW, BMW and the Deutsche Bank), or a multitude – then millions – of Jews.

(6) 1971-1973 APA Conferences and DSM Change

According to homosexual supporter and psychiatrist, Dr. R. Bayer, in his book, Homosexuality and American Psychiatry: the Politics of Diagnosis, (1981; chapter 4), explains that the first attack by homosexual activists against the APA began in 1970 at their convention in San Francisco. Homosexuals interrupted speakers with shouts and yelling. Then at the 1971 APA convention, activist Frank Kameny, who was working with the Gay Liberation Front, grabbed the microphone and yelled, “Psychiatry is the enemy incarnate. Psychiatry has waged a relentless war of extermination against us. You may take this as a declaration of war against you.”

By the 1972 APA convention, the Gay Liberation Front was allowed a booth at the conference. And Kameny, with APA member Kent Robinson, had moved enough members of the APA to agree to remove Homosexuality from the DSM. Opposition from members, such as on the Ad Hoc Committee Against the Deletion of Homosexuality from DSM-II (302. Sexual Deviations), could not stand against the wave of the minorities’ pressure and power. Dr. J. Satinover, in his book Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth, wrote that the opposition was only allowed 15 minutes to protest the decision.

Moreover, the National Gay Task Force had sent letters out to all the APA members urging and pressing them to vote to remove homosexuality as a disorder. In order to still be paid from government programs, social workers, psychiatrists and sociologist would now treat homosexuals for ‘anxiety,’ ‘depression,’ ‘gender dysphoric’ or ‘gender identify’ treatment plans. Now the National LGBT Health Education Center (part of The Fenway Institute) works directly with medical CME (Continuing Medical Education), the APA, American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American College of Physicians (ACP), and other such organizations to tell them proper terminology and planning.

Additionally, the Fenway Institute uses their own ‘Guide to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Health,’ in continuing education; as well as their own ‘Forms and Policy: creating an Inclusive Environment for LGBT Patients.’ Likewise, GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network), ‘teaches’ public school administrators and teachers with their guides, such as, “Guide to Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Students in Your School;’ and ‘PD Coordinator Manual.’ However, GLSEN does not speak or support in the same manner ‘Straight’ or righteous Christian Students were wish to read scriptures on the sin and judgment of Homosexuals who continue in the act.

NOTE:

The word ‘homosexual’ was not coined until the 1800s, two centuries after the King James Bible, thus many translations used sexual immoral, uncleanness and lewdness to include such acts as sodomy and homosexual acts. Also note that originally civil rights were actions to correct wrongs and discrimination against persons based on uncontrollable God-given fate – the race and sex we are born and the location or family to which we are born.

The Bible never says that one is subject to eternal judgment because they have certain color pigmentation or that they are a female; it took mankind centuries to move towards equal rights. However, the Holy Scriptures and the Lord God, through the Lord Jesus Christ, will condemn those who voluntary continue in homosexual actions and by His Holy Spirit continue to call them to repentance. A man cannot produce eggs (as a woman in their ovaries), nor a woman sperm to fertilize an egg – it is incompatible as trying to fertilize an animal from a human, because chemotaxis receptors and other cellular designs by the Creator – who made us ‘according to our kind (species)’ and in His righteous spiritual image. Now, for over 15 years scientists have been trying to create functional artificial sperm through stem cells to no avail. Nevertheless, only God can ‘breath life’ and give humans a ‘soul.’
